User-agent: Internet Messaging Program (IMP) H3 (4.0.3)
Hey All,
I'm probably not Googling the right things so I appreciate any pointers!
Are there any command line utilities available that would run on my 10.4.7
XServe that could dial a phone number and play a message when the line is
picked up?
I have two plans for this if I can find a way.
1. Use PHP to allow someone to remotely forward the office phones. (When we
moved our office location our telephone company now has us on an older exchange
and we can't dial in to a special number to forward our phones like we used to)
2. Dial a tech/admin if power is lost. (Before it shuts down per the UPS
controls)
The only thing that I've found so far that MIGHT be useful is the Direct IO
library from PHP. I assume I could use that with an external serial modem. I
did compile that library as a shared object, and it loads without complaint but
the next step?
Also would I need a "special" modem? Perhaps even a PCI Modem or some super
compact USB Modem? (So there's nothing really dangling off the server except
the phone line?)
Thanks for any help!
Matt
