Re: Server Problem Notification

We've got 3 G5 Xserver's in the office, and we've been getting log messages via Server Monitor on one of them for awhile now. In the Server Monitor Log, it's showing as "Power supply status change," and we get one at regular intervals for whatever the "Update Every...." setting is set for.

Which is what it's supposed to do.

So if I set it for 10 seconds, the log shows the message every 10 seconds.

Ditto.

This morning, a second xServer started doing the same thing, and since it's set to email a notification, it started sending me emails every time them monitor updated the status.

Ditto.

I've included a copy of one of the emails below. Both servers are connected to UPS's with USB connections and using the built-in Apple Energy settings to monitor the UPS and shutdown if necessary. They are 2 different brand UPS's, and unplugging the USB cable did not fix the problem. One UPS is a Belkin Universal UPS 1200VA, the other is an APC Backup UPS RS 1500VA. I've run self-checks on both UPS's and they appear to be functioning correctly.

What if you remove them entirely from the equation?

I've switched the server that started the notifications today to a second Belkin Universal UPS 1200VA that is powering my xServer RAID and the notifications stopped.

Anyone have a clue what's causing this and how to fix it?

Presumably there's and issue with the power, power supply or power load.

To fix it fix the power, power supply or whatever is invoking the load.

I can free up another UPS to test further, but if this is a known problem I can save myself some time.

thanks,

Rick

I'm getting the following Message:

Try comparing *two* of those sequential messages, or against a current set of values.

Try using a real ammeter to measure your load usages.
