however.
I see no reason logically to believe that Mac OS X Server 10.4.x for Intel hardware would not be capable of running, say, on a Mac Mini Intel Core Duo or an iMac Intel Core Duo (since Mac OS X Server for PPC is "certified" by Apple to run on the PPC versions of iMacs and Mac Minis). Why resrict to just Xeon and rule out running OS X Server
10.4.x on Duo Core?

I have noticed that when doing a build-to-order (BTO) on the Apple
site for one of the gorgeous new Xeon Mac Pro towers, we have the following
options:
Mac
OS X Server v10.4
Apple now offers 100% native Mac OS X Server v10.4 as a
preinstalled option, updating the Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" client to a full,
server operating system. With Mac OS X Server v10.4, Apple has integrated
popular open source software technologies and created innovative management
tools to make it easy to provide powerful standards-based server solutions.
Choose either the 10-Client license or Unlimited license of Apple's
award-winning UNIX-based server operating system.
None
Mac OS X Server (10-Client) [Add
$499]
Mac OS X Server (Unlimited-Client) [Add
$999]
Yet, Mac OS X Server as a stand-alone (buy it in
the box) does not list Intel Xeon as an architecture that it will run on top of,
under the Mac OS X Server specifications page...
http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/specs.html
Requirements
* Macintosh computers with an Intel or PowerPC G4 or G5
processor
* At least 512MB of RAM
* AT least 10 GB of available disk space.
* Built-in
FireWire
Hmmm ... what gives? I know Apple is busy this
week and its probably a mad house at Moscone, but it would be nice to know if
Mac OS X Server 10.4.x is available for Intel architecture (hopefully not just
Xeon but also Core in today's iMacs and Mac Minis).
