Try holding the option key and selecting the cd. If this does not work
try zapping the pram.
This is accomplished through the "vulcan nerve pinch" (as I believe
it's called)
while the mac is powering up hold the apple, option, p and r (that's 4
keys to be held at once) hold this until you hear the machine start a
few times.
