Re: Tiger server deafness

Got my first server successfully migrated to Tiger, but I had one problem: after a week of being up, it went deaf to the world. The machine was running fine, but I couldn't access any services, even locally. Couldn't ssh into it either.

Once restarted, it was fine again.

I noticed some earlier comments about bugs with the TCP stack in <10.4.2, and also found a note about not leaving Server Admin open:
"There is a curious bug in Server Admin. If you leave it open it will steadily fill /private/var/spool/cups/tmp with files until you run out of drive space." That doesn't appear to be the problem though.

Looked through logs, didn't see anything helpful, but I'm not sure which one would hold a clue to this.

If it is a stack bug, how does one work around it???

Any thoughts or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated!

Why don't you search the list archives as we hash through this all the time. --
