I'm looking for a way to redirect all traffic for port 25 on a
particular machine to port 587 on the same machine. I've looked
around the net a lot, and found a methodology using an ipfw forward
rule. Is this the best way to do things, and is it transparent to
the receiving server?
Yes and yes.
However it's often much easier to accomplish this at the router
unless you need to achieve this for local connections.
