Re: Predetermined Boot Order?

While it is possible to select the boot device from System Preferences, what happens of that boot device fails? I would like it to failover to specifically a partition that is bootable but which I, as the sys admin, determine order-wise.

The only way to ensure this is to ensure that all the other partitions are not bootable. There is only one setting available for boot selection: the currently selected device. It doesn't store a list to walk through.

While you may have an observable behaviour right now, that behaviour is not documented anywhere (I know of) so it might change with future versions of Startup Disk or the computer's firmware.
