Re: [netiquitte] Browsing over the other threads

Hello,

...It seems that some folks are reading this mailing list exclusively for answers to their own questions. In other words, they are not reading the other threads happening on this list. This leads to people asking questions that have just recently been answered, or at least covered in some depth. ...

The solution: Reading up on other list threads can be beneficial in several ways...

I concur. Though I don't have time each day to read all posts, I do save them. I have posts going back to March of '01 from this list. When I have a question I'd like to ask of the people on this list, the first thing I do is search my own list archive -- Eudora is quite fast for this. While I don't save everything, I do have just under 100 MB of list posts with a wealth of good information.

Though it may sometimes *seem* that I have not done my homework before posting, I really have queried the sources of which I am aware. (I am constantly learning of new resources and tools.)

There was a time, however, when I did not realize just how much can be gleaned via Google. It is simply amazing what a well thought out Google query can turn up. I've learned. Google is my friend.
