What about the size of the files in /var/clamav/.spamassassin, pre- and
post- invoking sa-learn ?
If you haven't already, I'd suggest putting in place the fix first noted
here:

"(stop) mail, (move) /var/amavis/.spamassassin aside and replaced it with a
symlink to /var/clamav/.spamassassin"
Since the files in /var/clamav/.spamassassin show "clamav" for the
user/group, and apple's own script invokes the sa-learn command as user
"clamav," (lines 36-39 for example), I followed suit.
