can that user login using a straight afp connection (Go-Connect to
server)? That is where I always start with this error message.
That lets me know if the permissions are correct on the share
points for that user.

Your search base should be 'dc=lokal,dc=cunde,dc=de".
Correct that and try again.
I setup a new OpenDirectory-Database with search base set to
"dc=lokal,dc=cunde,dc=de" and created a test user. Same problem :-(
And I understand the logs that the authentication of the user
worked but than the mounting of the home does not work. So if the
search base was the reason for this problem I should not be able
to authenticate, right?
So looks like my search base is okay.
Any other suggestions?
Now I looking for a computer where I can setup a test server.
maybe I find out why this thing does not work.
Yes, no problems with this share - works without any problems. My
fresh Mac OS X Server 10.4.6 installation (iBook with external
disk ;-) we have no PPC-machines left for testing proposes) is up and
running in a few minutes - but I think I am going to test it on friday.
Hope I will find out why it does not work.
Here is my checklist:
1. IP <-> FQDN of sever - okay
2. autoactivation is correctly configured - okay
3. user can login to the server via ssh, afp and gui.
4. OpenDirectory seams to be configured correctly, Authentication of
the user on the client machine seams to work
A long time ago the network-homes were working, but we only need it
for testing reasons, need to test a software for a customer it it
runs in an OD environment. (customer is hours away)
Hope I got time to test it on friday, bye
