Re: .DS_Store saturating the file server

I actually figured it out and it was something very stupid. Basically, the .DS_Store in the root of the mount was locked to root/admin with no privs for others at all. So Once I opened it up, it seems to have fixed itself. Not quite sure why its not an issue on Panther but it on Tiger, anyone want to hazzard a guess? Thanks everyone.

I failed to mention the frequency of the issue. When this is happening, a "storm" is basically around 10-15 "openFork .Ds_Store" a second without pause.

Hey all, I am in the process of upgrading a few client machines to Tiger ( 10.4.5 ), and I am having a big problem. Basically, after a little while ( its not a consistent amount of time), I notice that my file server has a above average load, and I check the appleFileServer logs and I notice that there is a storm of "OpenFork .DS_Store" coming from a certain machine. So far this has happened on four different machines, but only once with two at the same time.

The only thing that can be done, is to unmount the user from that file server. This has also happened on two different servers so far, but one of those it has only happened once. Both servers are 10.3.9. Has anybody seen this issue? And what can be done about it? The tiger machines were all imaged from one image, so could it be a problem on the client machine's image? or could it be a problem between Panther server and Tiger clients?

Thanks
Brent
