Hi list
Thanks for all the feedback to my question about Symantec Backup
Exec. I'm sorry to bother you with another question regarding
backup, but as I mentioned in my last thread, we're in kind of a
hurry, or I'd do much more research and testing myself...
The BRU software looks quite OK for me. Do you have any experience
with which tape drives it will work? Tolis group states on ther
website about BRU that it will work with (nearly) all hardware, and
that's a nice promise, but I'd hate to buy the one exception...
Also, how do you connect your tape drive to your XServe? Fibre
Channel? SCSI? If SCSI, which cards should we consider?
At the moment, we are using a Sony AIT-3 Autoloader with 8 slots,
connected to a G4 Dual 1.25GHz and an Atto ExpressPCI Pro UL3D card,
and this is working fine, but Macs and SCSI... well... we've been
having some problems with that.
What we are looking for is an LTO-3 autoloader with 12 to 16 slots.
There's the Quantum Superloader 3, anyone using that with Mac? What
about Overland ArcVault?
Sorry for the many questions. I'm googling and researching a lot
myself, but we need to reach a decision by next week (not my fault,
and I know it's a very short time for making such decisions...)
Thanks very much,
Tina
I have had good results with the exabyte LTO-3 drives. The one I have
experience with is the 221L. But I have heard good things about the
other models too. LTO-3 is nice. Very high capacity and fast.
