ip4_output (ipsec): error code 22

OS X Server 10.5.1 on a Mac Pro

Server stopped responding to network traffic and showed spinning beachball of death. It stayed that way for several hours. After a forced power down the system log showed tons of entries like this:

kernel[0]: ip4_output (ipsec): error code 22

Idiot search of google tells me it may be caused by a problem with mbufs and other things that are beyond my level. I gather it may be a legacy thing:

http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Conceptual/NetworkKernelExtensions/reference/chapter_3_section_5.html

The only recent change was installing Retrospect the day before, which does run as PowerPC, so I'm wondering if the two are related.

Any thoughts?
