Re: UPS classifications and a Wiki to share independent data?

Markus,

Thanks for the note. Yes I have most definitely seen this white paper but it falls short in two ways:

1.) It does not once describe or discuss the Classes of UPSs as I mentioned (e.g., Offline, Line Interactive, Online) -- this is very surprising to me;

2.) It is very obvious from this report that it heavily favors APC and I can't help but fathom the possibility that APC may have sponsored this whitepaper (sponsoring campaigns are very likely more prominent that we might want to at first believe -- just like the guy from Australia who not too long ago was hired by Microsoft to edit Wikipedia web pages about Open XML [1] ).

The white paper could have been much more comprehensive (for example, not one mention of the Line Interactive or Offline UPSs sold by Belkin). Not to single out Belkin, but the name Belkin does not once appear in the entire white paper document and I find that preposterous considering that I've seen people on this mailing list mention they have used Belkin UPS products on machines running Mac OS X Server.

Cheers,

Serg

Hello all,

I've been digging this mailing list to grok for what people have said in the recent year or so about experiences with Universal Power Supply (UPS) and Mac OS X Server generally.

Is there interest here in the small community in sharing and collecting information about UPSs?

Do you know this document? May be a start...
