Share is mounted as root user on Linux box and items can be created and permissions set using chown/chmod for both local and domain users. What I am curious about is whether or not anyone has tried getting setfacl/getfacl to work in these situations. I am assuming the answer may end up being "no," but I can't seem to find any information that says one way or the other.

It's a question of filesystem implementation. NFS has no such support. Linux ACLs are not HFS+ Extended Attribute ACLS.
