Re: A Server Admin question.

Hi,

I have an Xserve G5 (10.3.9) serving about 15 OS X machines (eMacs G4, iMacs G4 & G5, iBooks, PowerBooks and Mac Book Pros) all running 10.4.8. The LAN is in the 10.0.1.x range. Principal Server activity is AFP, Print, and VPN.

When monitoring the AFP connections, some of the local machines show their connection address as 10.0.1.x and others as "broadcasthost." What does the latter mean? Why the difference? All machines get their local IP address from the DHCP server running in the WAN modem.

I looked in all the Server Docs and cannot find any reference to "broadcasthost."

Please use more meaningful subject lines.

Have you heard of bonjour?
