Re: Wiki on OS X Server 10.4

All,

I have tried to install both MediaWiki and WikkaWiki on OS X Server
10.4.8 running on a G4 Mini.  I use the standard Apache server
(1.3.3), standard MySQL (MySQL 5.0.24a (client) MySQL 4.1.13a
(server) and the Entropy PHP version 5.2.1.

All other PHP based applications run fine (I have 3 others) and
phpinfo returns the proper information.  Both wikis install fine and
are pronounced installed.  The install is web based, in place.

However, when accessing the wiki MainPage or HomePage, the browser
(Safari, IE6, 7 and Firefox) receives the page information but fails
halfway through the load and times out.

I have reinstalled, checked network connections, checked folder
permissions, turned off all services except web and then added
services one by one, posted requests on all the forums for the
software and have concluded that there is a setting in OS X Server
that I am missing which disallows only the wiki software.

Why would this be?  Has anyone else had success in using wiki
software on OS X?

Just a datapoint: Dokuwiki (http://wiki.splitbrain.org/wiki:dokuwiki) works fine on OS X Server 10.4. Its an actively developed wiki oriented toward documentation (though people use it for all sorts of things). It doesn't use a backend database (a big plus in my book), just flat files. We've been really happy with it.

Just so that this doesn't seem like salesmanship, two other points: OS X server 10.5 will have a built-in wiki (though I have no idea whether it will be good, and whether Apple will build their own or adopt an open-source project a la Blojsom), and a great site for comparing wiki engines is the Wikimatrix: http://www.wikimatrix.org/
