We'll we're really filling up the 1TB of storage on our Xserve. We're
looking to an Xraid but want to hear thoughts on some other options.
I don't think a firewire 800 drive is what we need. More of a eSata
solution into a drive case with 16 drives, and a hardware sata raid 5
card ;)
Maybe something from MacGurus or Granite Digital?
Anyone working with something like that? Thoughts, ideas?
How about defining what type of storage you need?
DAS?
NAS?
SAN?
???
And how many petabytes do you need?
As for firewire based storage, that's unsuited for a server.
As for hw SATA Raid 5 cards, sounds more like you want DAS and if so
you should just be attaching to an external RAID device. Propblem
with these beast is management. How do you suppose to mange the
storage?
