Re: System Log Entry question

Hi,

since a couple of days there is an entry in the system log, which does not make any senso to me.

Feb 28 14:05:00 kahousex deliver[2594]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory

Seems like this has something to do with imap, but there is no mail service running on this machine. Only AFP, Open Directory, Print, FTP and Win Services are running.

I apprecciate enlightening answers.

Best regards,
Holger

Hi Holger

I had this too, asked the list and got the following answer, which solved my problem:

Hi list

Since about 2 weeks, I have these messages filling my system.log:

Jan 23 10:35:25 zool-fs1 deliver[8227]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: No such file or directory

Anyone knows what could cause these? I have restarted the server, and this stopped them for some hours, but then they reappeared.

Mac OS X Server 10.4.8 on an XServe G5; AFP, SMB and Firewall service running (nothing else, especially no mail services).

I had this too Tina, server is sending mail the the local admin and by default it tries to use IMAP.  Go into the Mail settings on Server Admin, checkbox "Deliver to /var/mail when POP & IMAP are disabled".  The messages will then be moved there no log file entries continually spamming you and you can view or delete them from that location.
