Then you should use OD.
LOL (seriously) - read the product documentation. Why are you pursuing a seemingly misguided train of thought, seeking for others to "prove it wrong" ? I would never rely on NetInfo for handling that many users, certainly not as of 10.3 server. You might as well be asking us to "convince" you as to why you shouldn't use Active Directory on a (current) Windows server with that many users. Not to compare the products per se (that's not my point).
Huh ? What does using an Xserve RAID and just as much, ".DS files" to do with NetInfo vs. "OD" (LDAPv3, kerberos, etc.)
You can set scheduled exports of your OD setup and all that encompasses, if you promote your server to an OD master. Then it's *relatively* trivial to wipe & reinstall on your OS drive should that ever be necessary, enter proper IP & hostname info, then import your OD backup and away you go. Spend some time with the ni- utils (nicl, niutil, etc.) and then form your own opinion. |
