I had the very same problem here with some (not all) of my (otherwise identical) Xserve Cluster Nodes. Resetting the PMU didn't help, too, and the firmware on the Xserves was up-to-date. Eventually, the problem disappeared with the upgrade of the Xserves From Mac OS X Server 10.3.9 to 10.4.2.
