Re: Warning about latest updates from Apple

I'd hold off on applying the latest QuickTime and/or iTunes updates

What do you mean by "wipe out"? Is the home directory simply gone?

Also, we have already deployed both updates on a number of Mac OS X
and Mac OS X Server systems on various hardware with no such issues.
Um yeah, ditto here.

Operator error.
I thought my post never made it to the list as I never saw it. Sorry.
I found a new way the GUI will allow you to fubar the system but not until the next restart.

And this way would be...?

First, sorry about the BCC to the list.

Second I was adding some unique users to via the admin tools that were for log in only. No homes. I let my brain miss a shift and also told it the admin user for the machine had no home when I was reviewing my work. Things were working fine at this point. Then I ran the Apple update. When I restarted the machine came up with defaults for everything on the user GUI. I did some searching and found a few folks with similar experiences on the Apple forums. Not with server but with the latest iTunes, QT, and 10.3.9 together. I thought I was in this groups. When I realized what had really happened I had to take a break and remove the egg from my face.

Sorry.
