I don't have an Xserver (yet...about to get one).

That's "XServe"

But in theory, you should be able to do it. It's a matter of firewalling some things.

Not necessarily. It's clear that TMTOWTDI. For instance service can be bound to IPs if not also NIs.

Is your Xserver also your firewall?

That's always a bad practice. Whgy make a several thousand dollar machine into something that you could get free with breakfast cereal?

Ed Pastore is right. It doesn't take much of a box to shell out pages and graphics. I would get a cheap box (I would never recommend Dell on an Apple forum, that wouldn't be smart...but...) and throw Linux on it.

Right, so the OP has two disparate systems to manage.

Adding am old G4 bought off ebay for $50 might be a better recomendation ;)

If you are desperate to use a Mac for web services (I'm sure Apple doesn't want to see this post) but you can use a Mac Mini. Apache and PHP is installed by default and it is VERY easy to setup PostgreSQL/MySQL.

Mysql is already installed on OS X Server and Postgres is installed part of ARD.
