Are you using firewire as your primary interface? I would guess from this that a network interface is flapping (fw0?), causing the DNS service to restart. Higher-layer services may then block on DNS requests. I've not had experience with use of IP over firewire for extended periods of time, but I'm pretty certain that an average firewire bus is a lot more 'volatile' than your average ethernet port (or collision domain, I suppose...). I would use ethernet if at all possible, and restrict the use of IP over firewire to be on an 'as needed' basis only. Disable the interface entirely when not using it. HTH, -Andre |
