Thread-topic: rsync backup - lost file type (final cut pro files)
User-agent: Microsoft-Entourage/11.3.3.061214
This is because the metadata is not being preserved-which includes what
application to use to open the file.
I suggest using something like PsyncX to do the backup instead of straight
up rsync. Or you could use something like Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper
if you wanted to get a complete snapshot.
Its not perfect, but it will do a better job than straight up rsync.
