The DHCP server has no available leases ...

- what could be happening here?

Machines you don't know about could be asking for leases. Machines you do know about could be trying to use the addresses they're handed, find they're already in use by other computers, and ask for new ones. The server could be configured incorrectly.

Take a look in the following

/var/db/dhcpd_leases
/var/db/bsdpd_clients

See if you can work out what's happening.

- what is the best way to clear - overnight - the assigned leases?

You can do this but it's complicated and if you're not happy playing with unix command lines you'd probably better leave it alone. Better to solve the problem.
