Re: Error -50 when accessing any file on share point

I think that I may have solved this. I used CacheOutX on the server to delete the "Local" and "System" caches (as CacheOutX refers to them) and then restarted. I'm now seeing expected behavior.

Just in case, I'm going to answer Dan's questions. Maybe one of you will see something that I didn't. If nothing else, this may help someone else some day as they search the mailing list's archives.

What happens when you use the shell rather than the stupid Finder?

From the server, it works. Then again, the problem was on the workstation over AFP. From the workstation, the shell shows all files owned by admin (which is the user on the workstation, so I suppose that is to be expected) and the correct privs. I can't recall right now, but I think that I didn't test a "cp" command from the workstation. Sorry.

Has the remote filesystem be repaired?

Yes. A run of fsck on all disks came up clean. "Repair permissions," for all the debated good or harm that it does, didn't report anything that made sense for this issue, e.g. mostly items inside Dock.app.

Does the remote filesystem have appropriate freespace in the filesystem and ancillary filesytems used by the OS or appropriate daemons?

Yes.
