Is this good for anything if you don't have XServe hardware?

I'm running Leopard Server on a PowerMac quad. I've entered the IP in Server Monitor, but it sits there forever with a Status Summary of "? Waiting for response"

If it is true that it only works for XServe hardware, anyone know of a sneaky plist or nvram hack that can make it useful for other server hardware?

It works only for Xserve hardware. I've never seen any such "sneaky" hack, and don't believe one exists.
One benefit of using an Xserve is the availability of Server Monitor.

Among other things, most of the sensors that Server Monitor gets information from only exist in XServes.
