Altirus for Mac Inventory and Application Deployment?

I am using NetBoot/NetRestore for my image deployment. I use ARD for most of my remote management (VNC), packages, and simple fixes. I use SSH for other remote admin stuff like traces, log analysis, and low level BSD stuff. I use OD/MCX for my bigger policy stuff.

My IT manager is happy with my decisions regarding ARD, NetBoot, etc, but he wants to use our existing Altiris server for application deployment and asset management. It has been used in the past for Windows only services. I don't know anything about Altiris, and wonder if it will do a comparable job to other vendors such as JAMF's Casper Suite, etc.

The good news is that my Desktop Techs are experienced with Altirus (for Windows). The bad news is that Im not experienced with Altirus. Our Desktop Techs are new to Mac OS X too.

Is anyone having good luck with Altiris for asset management/inventory and application/patch deployment?
