Actually, he's right, 100% utilization is a goal state for any
computer system
(memory, CPU, etc). Anything less is a waste of resources. The
problem is that
at 0 free mem, other new threads might want memory without
existing threads
giving any up, which causes paging and thrashing.
I guess that means that 0% room for expansion is a goal state as well?
No, not at all. Why not bother to do a little research of your own or
get up to speed with how paging actually works before shooting off
silly remarks?
I feel like I'm being sucked into an alternate reality where I
actually am compelled to engage in inane email conversation with
people who have nothing better to do! Oops. I must now try to
rehabilitate myself and undo what I've become. :-O
Right, you see most of us have bothered to understand the basics
concepts of OS design. They teach it to CS students and write it up
in just about any book you'll pick up on OS design.
Look you asked a question and got a response. The comment you posited
was completely wrong and people have been trying to point out how VM
actually works as opposed to how you erroneously thought it did and
now you're saying it's an inane conversation because you lead it to
absurdity with silly remarks trying to be cute. We do have better
things to do, like letting you wallow in your misunderstandings and
your problem while we get our work done.
