Using a user with a portable home directory this doesn't happen.
Interesting. What log entries do you see? Any error messages?
The Directory program does pick up everything automatically. All of
the Macs are bound to the OD domain.
So far so good.
After a few test installations of Leopard Server I am finding
problems with the Workgroup Cache
Such as?
So far, the oddities I've run across include:
- /etc/postfix/main.cf not including the "$mydomain" in the
"mydestination" setting by default. What's up with that? I had to add
it by hand.
- Setting mail quotas on OD/LDAP accounts causes mail to bounce and
SquirrelMail to throw out errors.
- Software Update service won't start
- A new Mac Pro w/10.5 doesn't seem to work as a NetInstall image,
even though I used the new tools to create it.
This all happened when I installed a brand new Xserve Xeon this week.
No upgrades from previous OS versions or importing/restoring of users'
accounts. All bright, clean, fresh. The machine is working fine as an
OD master, and network-based homes are all humming along nicely.
Still, it'd be terrific if it did everything I'd like it to do without
the weird hiccoughs.
And clients wonder why I urge them to wait for the first few "dot"
releases before moving to a new OS version. This client, however,
insisted I install 10.5 since they paid for it and Apple threw it in
the box. Sheesh.
