I can verify that the Leopard Client CPU drop in does indeed check for
a previous version of the OS before allowing an install. I don't have
a Server CPU drop in to check with so I don't know about that. I
assume it would be the same, but maybe not.

I installed a shiny new XServe a few weeks ago. It came with Tiger installed and Leopard Server Drop-In DVD set. The first thing I did was an Erase and Install from the Leopard DVD. It worked without drama. I doubt the install knew what was in the machine before.
