There's more to managing a network than just what happens on your servers.
After listening to attendee feedback, the MacIT Conference track at Macworld
Expo has added a two-day "Power Tools" session focused exclusively on
network management.
Entitled "Total Network Awareness", it is a comprehensive overview of
networking principles, tools and methodologies. You will learn about
SNMP-based data collection and presentation, flow collection and analysis,
packet sniffing, service health monitoring, and more. Real world examples
from several types of networks will be shown. It's a two-day network-fest
that will give almost any sysadmin a better understanding of their networks,
and more tools so they can put that understanding to better use.
The session is being presented by by Chuck Goolsbee, (the list-mom
for mac-mgrs, and VP of Tech Ops at digital.forest), Julian Koh,
(Senior Network Engineer, Northwestern University), Shaun Redmond, (Manager
of Information Systems & Technology,Wellington Catholic District School
Board), and John C. Welch, (Unix/ Open Systems Administrator,Kansas City
Life Insurance.)
