Re: 10.5 Server: authorization against Open Directory

If you're using Apache (HTTP) authorization, you should use the
"Realms" option in Server Admin. This will properly configure
mod_auth_apple. You can, of course, do it yourself in your vhost
config file.

I used 'Realms' with the group called 'Users' (fullname) 'staff' (shortname) and it seems to be working.

If you want your application to perform authentication, you can
authenticate against the OD server using LDAP. Your base DN for
connections is "dc=server,dc=example,dc=com" (for server.example.com,
obviously replace as appropriate). I did this (using mod_auth_ldap)
for SVN access control on a separate Ubuntu server, and it worked
flawlessly. I'm sure that PHP etc. will work just as well.

That's what I thought you'd tell me and I needed help with which .conf file I should be changing, but I'm delighted your simpler method works. Thanks very much for the fast and useful response.
