Okay, I gotta plead total stupidity here. I broke my server, and I don't
know how.
MacOSX Server 10.4.10 using Entropy's 5.2.4 PHP package, one IP address,
very basic config. For fun, I thought I would try out the webmail
function, so I used ServerAdmin to edit my single default site and checked
off the "Webmail" box, saved and restarted. I got an error (httpd crash),
so I unchecked the box and when I tried to restart apache it had enabled
the php4 module, so I had to disable php4. Apache startsup now, and all I
get from any web request is:
>Forbidden
>You don't have permission to access / on this server.
>
>Apache/1.3.33 Server at courses.phrd.ab.ca Port 80
I tried taking out the entropy php file link in /etc/httpd/sites, I tried
making a whole new site using a different IP, I tried a repair permissions
on the drive, rebooted, reset www to owner for all of
/LibraryWebServer/Documents, reverted back to the old http.conf.default
file and finally in desparation I updated to 10.4.11. I'm outa ideas and
I'm getting desparate. Why the heck happened to my config files? I'm not
sure how I broke my server. If any has any ideas it would be greatly
appreciated.
