Re: Xsan FSM problem

Hello,

According to our log(s), we have a PIO HiPriWr sysavg of 325. but, we have no data on the volume because it's not stable. We are simply testing it out with small txt files.

After our setup crashes/stalls, I've tried to use sudo cvadmin and it tells me it can't connect/display information because of a bad file descriptor. When this happened, I ran disk utility on the XServe to see if there was a hard drive issue, it came back clean/ok.

Thanks,
Roger

A bad disk could cause this. What's the latency like in the hourly report in your volume log?

In my experience you get pretty good support when you buy Applecare for Xsan. By opening cases you also help locate bugs in software that can help all of us out in the future.

The only thing I'm thinking right now is switching all Apples (including Xserve RAIDs) in the building for the night and then turning back on one by one. Maybe after Xserve RAID reboot it will show me a bad disk or something.

I don't have AppleCare agreement, so I haven't opened a case. Can you recommend it? I always wondered what kind of support you can get for such money.
