thanks for the reply.
I'm not familiar with the usage of a TERM, can you give me an
example ?
This is covered in the kill man page.
kill sends signals to processes. HangUP and TERMinate and KILL are
common.
I'm familiar with kill and hup, I haven't used terminate.
the "everything needed" ( which i am not clear about )
-- i was thinking ,..slapd, password service, lookupd, any
information about local users. I would like to kick start.
There is no lookupd anymore. What version of OS X are you running?
10.4.11 server
More importantly what is it that you are trying to do?
I have a very busy server that i want to tail my system.log and watch
for Directory service Virtual memory growth. when the open refernces
reaches a certain number restart directory services.
Nov 30 07:53:36 imap1 DirectoryService[61]: Potential VM growth in
DirectoryService since client PID: 0, has 550 open references when
the warning limit is 500.
If i allow this to go unchecked , Directory Services dies and I have
to reboot the system.
