so - does it make sense to buy a xserve and run the latest leopard server on it - or do i have to start the whole work again when the official release is out ?

'the latest leopard server' ? There are no leopard servers.

There are plenty of unfinished and testing versions around but they are unfinished and buggy. I would never install them for serious use.

Simon

there are different leopard developer versions - and my wanted to install the latest of them.
my question was wether i makes any sense - it`s useless if i have to install it again after the next release !
th idea was to change from linux to osx server to get a easy to handle mailserver and a good host for my webprojekts.

No, it does NOT make sense. Not only is it stupid to use a developer/ beta OS on a production system in any capacity, but you WILL have to reinstall the final version when it ships.

Now if you want to test and evaluate Leopard Server for suitability, that's a different argument entirely. But the final version will need to be reinstalled over any developer version.*

*Yes, it's possible that a late build may end up being the GM/final version; but there is no way of knowing that until it is absolutely confirmed which build is GM.
