My G4 Xserve, running 10.3.9 emails error messages 3 or 4 times an hour.
Unfortunately the recipient is <>, and since my externally hosted
email address gets root's mail, I'm just getting the bounce notice.
The mail service is not running. This server has a private IP and
has never been a mail server (although mail may have been briefly
turned on at one point)
The bounce notice includes the original message--- and the only
thing notable is that my uptime is "0"
I've looked through the logs and I see a lot of "could not connect to
lmtp, no such file or directory"
How do I fix the mailing issue? And is it possible that the mail
issue is the cause of the error?
