Server ignores ACL settings

Hi,

10.4.9 running on a PPC G5 Xserve. I recently moved data to a new Xserve RAID, all went fine with the exception of the server ignoring the ACL settings. I noted this on one share in particular. Normally when I mount a share point and then get information on an item inside of it that has ACLs set, I can see these settings in a list. But for this items although I set ACLs amany times to all kinds of values it doesn't show that list in the client's Finder's info box nor does the server care for its settings, it behaves as if there were no ACLs. I propagated the permnissions settings to all enclosed items many times as well, changed them back and forth without success. On other share points it works, on that one it does not.

What do I need to do in addition to what the vendor claims to be sufficient to make it work the way the vendor advertises it would be working to actually do make it work as advertised?

Thanks for any help.
Alexander
