Some may writing server utilities in script could be considered RubeGoldbergian as compared to writing them in C or another realprogramming environment. OK, then a very high percentage of OS X should be considered "Rube Goldbergian". If one were to systematically remove such offending scripts from OS X, it could not even begin to boot. Even once booted, a significant amount of the OS critically depends on scripts. The approach to using is cron is admittedly old. But wasn't crondeveloped for AT&T UNIX System V? I first saw it on the PDP-11 justabout 30 years ago. 1. cron however old has certainly survived the test of time. 2. Just like fine wine, cron has defiantly improved over time. f I had a penny for every set of eyes that has critically examined cron since its inception I'd be very rich individual. http://lists.apple.com/mailman/options/macos-x-server/email@hidden |
