LBackup is controlled from the command line and text file configuration directories.

Visit the LBackup home page for documentation : http://www.lucidsystems.org/tools/lbackup/

To get started with LBackup or just learn more by seeing it in action visit the screen casts page :

Is it GUI utility or terminal mode programme ..? , I installed the DMG file
but I am not able to find the icon in the application but it is installed.

LBackup is a custom set of wrapper scripts for rsync, and in this it is not alone. I am not commenting on it or its quality either way,
but you really need to know that at its base, it is using rsync.

rsync may or may not meet your needs, there are many discussions about it on this list (for example).
But you should understand that rsync is what's used, and you might even prefer to write your own script using it.

Or, you may prefer rsnapshot - see http://www.rsnapshot.org
