null mail queue time stamp and virus update

I just noticed on a 10.5.2 server that the Mail queue under the Maintenance tab does not display the date/time for any messages in the queue. When I click on a message to highlight it, the pane below says:
Message ID: 7CE5A1907C7
Date: (null)

As a semi-related issue, I also noticed that the mail Virus Update on this server is set to check for updates 1 time every day, but the Last Update says "Not available" The Virus update log /var/log/freshclam.log is totally empty - not a single line of info.

This is a new install of 10.5 server with all the updates everything built from scratch - no information migrated or upgraded from previous servers.

Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve these problems?
