Phil, can you provide any further evidence as to why you think it's
cyrus IMAP? That would be very helpful.
Despite Dan's abrasive response* to this thread I've held off replying
until I heard back from Apple on the bug I filed (5707691). I included
details like which Cyrus processes where running when I saw the
problem, the Cyrus error messages I saw in the console, the presence
of huge Cyrus backup DB files even when no mail was stored, and how
the problem persisted even after resetting Cyrus to an empty/virgin
state.
And it turns out that I and others are correct. There is a bug where
Cyrus corrupts it's DB and starts to chew up disk space, and Apple is
taking responsibility for it. For those interested my bug is a
duplicate of bug ID# 5690416. Registered developers can request an
update on its status by sending a request to email@hidden
referencing this bug ID#.

"it's not a bug and even if it is (which it isn't) it's not Apple's
problem."
