We run a lab of Macs for our students at our school. Unfortunately,
logging in and starting Word has been slow when we are packed (50
computers). Looking into it I found that much of AFP's memory was in
virtual memory. So we purchased 4 GB more RAM (we are now at 6 GB).
However, still the fact remains that more than double the memory is
in virtual memory (usually 275 MBish in Real Memory, and 650 MB in
virtual memory). With 3 GBs free! I have already followed AFP548's
article on increasing the thread count, but that didn't seem to
affect the memory. What can I do to have AFP use more of the
available memory?
