Did one DMG possibly get saved as compressed and the larger one not

That's a good question :). I don't remember exactly. Is there a way
to get
this information from DMG itself?

'hdiutil imageinfo [image.dmg]' gets you detailed information about a disk image.

Both images shows "Compressed" and both shows correct CRC checksums and no
errors. I can even mount both and see the files inside.

Are those servers running 10.4.x?
If yes, perhaps do you have a PPC-only install on the PPC, and a universal build on the Intel?

But how did you create those disk images?
And are the folder/file counts on the disk images compatible with the one to be found on their original disks?
