Funny though when logging in as smb from a Mac as a member of the
PC group they are still locked, though afp fine. It doesn't matter
as the
PC's have now full access.

I have noticed the same odd behaviour from MacOSX to an smb share on
MacOSX Server. It appears to be a Finder thing. If you use the shell,
or even an application like BBEdit, the access permissions are fine. I
would say it's a Finder bug.
