I have a couple of recently added users that are having intermittent
problems connecting to my AFP (10.4.11) server from both Tiger
(10.4.11) and Leopard (10.5.2) machines.
They're logged in as local users, and using the Finder's Go -->
Connect to Server to get to their network shares.
During an unsuccessful login, /Library/Logs/AppleFileService/
AppleFileServiceAccess.log shows failure like this:
(Unfortunately, /Library/Logs/PasswordService/
ApplePasswordServer.Server.log doesn't show anything related to this
failure)
The Finder error says "Connection Failed <p> Unknown user, incorrect
password, or login is disabled. Please retype the name and password
or contact the server's administrator."
And tcpdump does show two packets, one in, and one out, from the doc
server to the ODM.
If I try a few more times, I can eventually login as this user, and /
Library/Logs/AppleFileService/AppleFileServiceAccess.log shows:
I have restarted both the AFP and ODM servers, without any
improvement. Google shows a few others with the same issue, but I
have yet to see a fix that works for me. (Mostly, people suggest
restarting the afp service.)
Running these commands on the ODM makes it *better*, but doesn't fix
it totally:
