Had you ordered Mac OS X Server software with your machine you would

I am close to purchasing a Mac Pro as a netboot server for a location that
doesn't have a nice rack for an XServe. When speaking with our Apple Rep, I
was told that when you order OS X Server with the Mac Pro, you get the
retail copy of OS X Server in the box, but the computer is imaged with OS X
Client (along with its own build).

If this is the case, then ordering the Mac Pro with OS X Server at the same
time would not fix this, since, OS X Server is not a custom build for that
particular hardware (where as OS X Client) is. Therefore anyone with a Mac
Pro running server is stuck with the bug until 10.5.2 is released.

This has been reported to me by a source at apple (who will remain nameless) that there will not be a special fix released for the Mac Pro to fix this bug, the fact that it can run the server software doesn't mean it was designed for it or that the server software was designed to run on a Mac Pro.

Has anyone else heard this from their Apple rep, or is mine full of it? I'm
not trying to fan the fires here, just trying to make the correct decision
on a purchase.

This isn't a huge deal, as I can wait until 10.5.2 is released, if that's
what fixes it, but, its good to know whether there are custom builds for OS
X Server and the Mac Pro if they are ordered together.

There are no custom fixes, the bug exists and will at a minimum affect the new Mac Pro's when OSXS is installed until apple releases the fix and there's no guarantee that the fix will be included in the 10.5.2 server release, that is apple's official position on the matter.

Thanks,
