Re: home directories stored in a NAS

Hi All,

I'm wondering if it's possible to have the home directories stored into a NAS.

I'm now running Mac OS X Server on a mac mini and I want to add another mini as a replica for OD database.

Now if the only mini woes, everything is unavailable.
But in the future, there will be another mini that can take over for at least the OD database. But how to provide home directories if those are stored in the broken mini ?
That's why I came up with the idea of having the home directories in a separate system (NAS). Is it possible ? How about automount and all the other stuff needed to setup home directories correctly ?

I think you just set up another MacOSX server with an AFP service and configure your OD server to serve the homes from an AFP share. That server could also be an OD replica. And then you can have NAS to make regular backups of your data.

I believe too that if a NAS supports AFP then it should be possible to assign that in WGM.
